G-d provided us with opportunities to bring down spiritual protection. They are called the mitzvos, the commandments in the Torah.
Shabbat specifically had tremendous spiritual powers. Our Rabbis teach us that Shabbat saves lives, as evidenced by story after story throughout our history. It is said “he who protects Shabbat, Shabbat will protect him.” In fact, hostages recounted keeping Shabbat in captivity, soldiers have asked for people to keep Shabbat for them, injured have requested the same. Doing a mitzvah with the intention to bring spiritual protection to our nation has tremendous power. Notice the many stories on myShabbat.org illustrating this point.
